Paris was only about 2 hours by car, and 1 1/2 hours by train, from my old house in Kuurne.  The first time I went, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it.  I wanted to go just because it is such a famous city, but I had such a good time, I've been back 5 or 6 times.

Photographing Paris has been quite a challenge for me.  The first problem is the hordes of people that are everywhere you go.  Even at bad times of the year, there are just tons and tons of people.  The second problem is that most of the photogenic sites are so over-photographed that it's almost impossible to get anything new and interesting.  The third problem is that Paris is often very hazy.  Finally, for me, there has been the problem of timing.  The first several times I went were really just siteseeing trips.  I didn't have the time or the opportunity to try to be in the right places at the right times.  But, the last couple of trips to Paris have been primarily photography trips for me, and I had some opportunity to try my hand at photographing it.

Here's what I got.
